Spring into Action Benefit 2024
PMC's seventh annual Spring into Action Benefit was held on May 8, 2024. This benefit used a hybrid format. The in-person location was the University Club of University of Pittsburgh.

PMC presented the Judge Justin Johnson Award to Judge Kim Berkeley Clark. Judge Kim Berkeley Clark recently retired from being the President Judge of the Fifth Judicial District where she was a trailblazer as the first African American and first African American women to serve in that position. She had many leadership positions in the Fifth Judicial District and the Commonwealth including: Supervising Judge of Juvenile Court, Administrative Judge of Family Division, Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges' Commission. President of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, and President of the Allegheny Bar Association, to name a few.
Abby Ginzberg was our keynote speaker. Abby is a former trial attorney in California and Peabody-Award winner director of Judging Juries, a documentary about the barriers to jury service which deprive criminal defendants of representative juries premiering at the Pan African Film Festival in February, 2024. Abby has been producing compelling documentaries about race and social justice for over 35 years. Her latest film, Shaking It Up: The Life and Times of Liz Carpenter will premiere at SXSW in March, 2024 in the Documentary Spotlight section. Her film, Barbara Lee: Speaking Truth to Power, won the 2022 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Documentary.
We also recognized Randy Goldson, the winner of PMC's 2024 Law Student Writing Competition.
