PMC Weighs in on Family Court Building Controversy

June 29, 2010

In a letter to the editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer, PMC opines on the controversy surrounding the development of a new Family Court facility for Philadelphia.  PMC has long been part of a coalition of advocates championing the need for a new, modern, unified Family Court, but we are concerned about recent relevations regarding the development deals related to the project.  We wrote: "It's often said that the ends justify the means. But that's rarely accurate when it comes to public policy and the use of public funds. . . . We are building a courthouse - what should be a symbol of justice and fidelity to the law. The means here must be worthy of the end goal. We can do better, and we must."
