Tomorrow Philadelphia celebrates its 11th annual Juror Appreciation Day at the Criminal Justice Center. The program was coordinated by a partnership between the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts to recognize the importance of jury service and to honor the citizens who serve.
The city-wide designation of May 20 as Juror Appreciation Day is part of the state’s celebration of juries in May. The Pennsylvania General Assembly and City Council recognize Juror Appreciation Week. Chief Justice Castille also has issued a statement in support of Juror Appreciation Week.
The program will feature: Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office; Hon. Michael A. Nutter, Mayor of Philadelphia; Hon. Pamela Pryor Dembe, President Judge of the First Judicial District; Hon. D. Webster Keogh, Administrative Judge, Trial Division, Court of Common Pleas; Hon. Roger F. Gordon, Court of Common Pleas; City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown; Gerard P. Shotzbarger, Jury Commissioner; and Lynn Marks of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts.
