Governor Nominates Judge Robert Freedberg to Fill Interim Vacancy on Superior Court

April 2, 2010

Governor Rendell has nominated Judge Robert Freedberg of Easton to fill the interim vacancy on the Superior Court created by Joan Orie Melvin's election to the Supreme Court. The nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.  If confirmed, Judge Freedberg would serve until January 2012 -- when a judge elected during the November 2011 election would be seated for a full ten-year term.

Judge Freedberg served on the Northampton Court of Common Pleas from 1981-2008.  From 1991-2008, he was President Judge of that Court.  From 2008-09, he served on the Superior Court, again as a result of a nomination and confirmation to fill an interim vacancy.
