Budget Cuts for the Courts Are a Bad Idea

March 27, 2009

PMC explains in a letter to the Philadelphia Daily News why recently proposed budget cuts to the Philadelphia Courts would do more harm than good.  "Courts exist to do the people's business. If the proposed cuts lead to closures and reduced hours, Philadelphians will have to wait longer for the resolution of serious problems, including family matters, domestic disputes, and employment and housing cases."  PMC recognizes that the economy is requiring hard decisions, but cutting court services has long-term, far-reaching consequences that are of grave concern.
